Ok, the time has arrived... I need to know what to sing. American Idol Auditions are less than a week away so I really want to hone in on my main choice(s), over the weekend. Please listen to the clips above and let me know which you think is the strongest. Just to feel better about the quality (?) of my voice, I'll say that these have been recorded under stress, as my body's been taxed by chicken pox... But still, what do you think? Let yourselves be heard! Vote! Vote!

I was searching Google with the words "American Idol", and "no friends to tell them" wondering if someone had done a piece on people who have no clue and no friends to tell them they stink.
Anyway, I came upon your blog because of the keywords. Your site intrigued me since it seemed you were working hard at making it to the show and had thought of a lot of important aspects.
So, I kept reading and found your wav files...excited about Who Will Save Your Soul since Jewel is one of my favorite artists.
After listening I'm back to my original point...don't you have any friends who tell you the truth? If not, let me...stop singing (at least it seems that was what you were trying to do). Consider me your friend...and let me tell you: you can't sing.
I thinking singing is a gift...not an acquired skill. Keep looking for your gift, because my ears are still bleeding!

That possibly the worst excuse for singing I have ever heard. Im not trying to squash your dreams, but you're never going to be a singer. If you still want to perform, maybe try acting. Or even dancing if you have some experience. singing is NOT for you.

I would love to know more about these american idols. At least to kill my curiousity.

Marisa, you really need to relax and just let it flow. Dress like you would usually dress, be yourself and sing to sound like yourself because if you try to stand out and it isn't you....they will see right through you and you will not get through again this year. RELAX AND BREATHE!

Dear Marisa,
Only listened to "Bobby McGee" sound clip but as it played, my dog stood up, walked to the door, and scratched repeatedly to leave the room.
What happened to the great ending that Janis gave us? The LAUGH? and "that's all folks" ending.
I was Janis Joplin in our class prophecy (high school) and then she died the next year, one week after the only concert where I would finally have seen her was rained out.
The play and her letters to her family in a book by her sister were great - and I wonder if I look like she would have looked at age - almost 54 this year. I did resemble her, although I never was photographed topless and covered with beads......but I did have similar wild hair, was considered a "hippie" in my Catholic academy and loved music........had been youngest member of National Guild of Pianists at age 12.
So, you are intriguing and your blog showcases a mindset for another generation that I tap into regularly as a teacher of art - and someone who keeps up-to-date with MTV.
As a member of Leonardo Committee I hope to see you in Boston - I live eleven miles outside of the city in Dedham - and would love to set up a retreat at the Endicott Estate of MIT - located down the road from my house - for New Media and "Old Media" folks.
I am a traditional painter but do use the Internet, CDs and digital skills as it relates to bio-energy concerns and my work painting miscanthus.
Take care - if you do read this, I'd love to try and present a piece at CAA 2006 that relates to my own reaction concerning your blog and your world.

don't quit your day job. Singing is not your profession. You sounded like your head was in a bucket. I rocked on my cats tail and it sounded better. You have been fooling yourself.

def 'who will save my soul', although I maintain that for round 2 you should consider 10,000 maniacs

I vote for Bobby McGee. Nice mix of sassy and sweet. Good luck!
